Week 11: Numbers: right hand
Turkish F keyboard course. 27 wpm, 94% accuracy.
Last week you learned the first half of the numbers with your left hand. This week you finish the row with your right hand: 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0. These numbers are spread across your right index, middle, ring and pinky fingers. Knowing which finger covers each number keeps the rhythm steady when you type numbers inside a sentence.
What you will learn
Five new keys and their fingers:
6(Shift gives&): right index7(Shift gives'): right index8(Shift gives(): right middle9(Shift gives)): right ring0(Shift gives=): right pinky
These numbers are typed with the right hand, so Shift is pressed with the left pinky, the pinky of the opposite hand. Both 6 and 7 are on the right index finger, so move between them with a short, steady motion.
Technique tips
- Keep the movement of the right index finger short between
6and7. Lift the finger, press, and bring it straight back. - Use the right middle finger for
8. Keep the neighboring fingers still on the home row. - Reach
9with the right ring finger and0with the right pinky. Move the finger, not the wrist. - Hold Shift with the left pinky, type the number with your right hand, then release both together.
- Look at the screen. Do not search the number row with your eyes. Let your finger find the key.
Lessons
- Lesson 1 (10-15 minutes): Learn the new keys. Watch the keyboard demo, follow the right hand on the number row, and type each number once without Shift and once with Shift.
- Lesson 2 (10-15 minutes): Practice. Type short sequences and simple text with the right-hand numbers, and mix in a few numbers from last week.
- Lesson 3 (10-15 minutes): Review and take the 2-minute test. Find the numbers that slowed you down and practice them in a separate round.
This week’s goal
Your targets are 27 WPM and 94% accuracy. Finishing the lessons earns 1 star. Reaching the accuracy target earns 2 stars, and reaching the speed target in the closing test earns 3 stars. Slowing down on the right-hand numbers is normal. Focus on the right finger for each number, and your speed will move toward the target.
New keys this week
The colored keys are the ones you learn this week. The color shows which finger presses the key.
