Week 6: Bottom row: index and middle fingers
Turkish F keyboard course. 18 wpm, 92% accuracy.
This week you reach down to the bottom row, the line of keys just below the home row. Your index and middle fingers do most of the work here. When a finger reaches down, it moves away from the home row, so bringing it back to its home key after each press is the most important habit this week.
What you will learn
Five new keys and their fingers:
c: left indexz: right indexç: left indexs: right indexv: left middle
Notice that c and ç are both on the left index finger. Because one finger covers both keys, check the screen to confirm which letter you typed.
Technique tips
- Reach down in a short, straight motion. The finger should meet the key from above.
- Your left index finger covers
candç, and your right index finger coverszands. Return each finger to the home row after its key. - Press
vwith your left middle finger. Keep that finger lined up over the key before you press. - Do not drop your wrist when you reach down. The wrist stays steady, and the movement comes from the finger.
- Focus on finding the right key by feel instead of looking down at the keyboard.
Lessons
- Lesson 1 (10-15 minutes): Learn the new keys. Watch the keyboard demo, follow the fingers reaching down, and type
c,z,ç,sandvonce each. - Lesson 2 (10-15 minutes): Practice. Type short Turkish words that combine the bottom row with the home row.
- Lesson 3 (10-15 minutes): Review and take the 2-minute test. Find the keys you got wrong and practice them in a separate round.
This week’s goal
Your targets are 18 WPM and 92% accuracy. Finishing the lessons earns 1 star. Reaching the accuracy target earns 2 stars, and reaching the speed target in the closing test earns 3 stars. The bottom row can feel different from the top row. Slowing down is fine. Finding the right key comes first.
New keys this week
The colored keys are the ones you learn this week. The color shows which finger presses the key.
