Week 5: Top row: pinkies
Turkish F keyboard course. 16 wpm, 92% accuracy.
This week you work with your smallest fingers, the pinkies. Pinkies are short and light, so pressing a key can feel harder than it does with the other fingers. That makes a light, controlled touch the most important skill this week. You will meet four new keys: f with the left pinky, and p, q and w with the right pinky.
What you will learn
Four new keys and their fingers:
f: left pinkyp: right pinkyq: right pinkyw: right pinky
Your right pinky covers three keys this week: p, q and w. After each of them, bring the finger back to its home position before you reach for the next key.
Technique tips
- Do not press hard. Touch the key lightly and let go. Pressing harder does not help the key register.
- Keep your hand still. The movement should come from the finger, not the wrist or the forearm.
- When the left pinky reaches to
f, keep the neighboring fingers still on the home row. - Your right pinky moves between
p,qandw. Each time it lands, return it to the home row before the next key. - Look at the screen. Focus on sensing the key position rather than looking at the keyboard.
Lessons
- Lesson 1 (10-15 minutes): Learn the new keys. Watch the keyboard demo, follow the pinky movements, and type
f,p,qandwonce each. - Lesson 2 (10-15 minutes): Practice. Type short Turkish words that use your pinkies often, and bring your hands back to the home row after each word.
- Lesson 3 (10-15 minutes): Review and take the 2-minute test. Note where you slowed down and practice those keys again.
This week’s goal
Your targets are 16 WPM and 92% accuracy. Finishing the lessons earns 1 star. Reaching the accuracy target earns 2 stars, and reaching the speed target in the closing test earns 3 stars. Pinkies take longer to warm up. Be patient, focus on a clean touch, and let the speed come with it.
New keys this week
The colored keys are the ones you learn this week. The color shows which finger presses the key.
This week’s lessons
Do the lessons in order. Each one ends with a test, and your best result is saved.
