Week 16: Final project
JavaScript code typing course. 25 wpm, 95% accuracy.
In the final week you bring together everything you have practiced. A small JavaScript project is made of many parts: variables, lists, functions and conditions. You write it with your own names and your own text, so every line is yours. The goal this week is to keep your accuracy high while typing a little faster than you did in earlier weeks.
What you will learn
This week introduces no new symbols or keywords. You use parentheses, quotes, brackets, braces, operators, comparison signs, commas, colons, semicolons and periods together in one project. Plan the parts in a short order: first a variable, then a list, then a function, then a condition. Whenever you need a symbol’s position on the US English layout, review the key positions from the earlier weeks.
Technique tips
- Write a short plan of the parts before you type, so you know the next line each time.
- Finish each part and check it before you move on.
- Let Enter set the indentation for you, then look at the line to confirm it.
- Slow down on the hardest line rather than rushing. A correct line is faster than a corrected one.
- When you finish, read the whole project once and fix any symbol you missed.
Lessons
- Learn (10–15 minutes): Plan the project’s parts and review the symbols you will use with the keyboard demo.
- Practice (10–15 minutes): Write the project part by part, checking each part before the next.
- Review (10–15 minutes): Take the two-minute test and focus on one section of the project.
This week’s goal
Your targets are 25 WPM and 95% accuracy. Finishing the week earns one star. Reaching 95% accuracy earns two stars, and reaching the speed target as well earns three. This is the longest and most symbol-heavy week, so accuracy comes first and speed follows.
This week’s lessons
Do the lessons in order. Each one ends with a test, and your best result is saved.
