Week 14: Sentences and rhythm
QWERTY touch typing course. 33 wpm, 95% accuracy.
Once words flow easily, the next step is full sentences. A sentence asks for more than correct fingers. It also asks for rhythm: a capital letter at the start, a space between words, a comma where a pause belongs and a period at the end. This week you do not learn new keys. You combine the keys you know into balanced sentences and build a steady flow.
What you will learn
No new keys appear this week. Each sentence you type uses the habits below:
- Capitalize the first letter of the sentence with Shift and the opposite pinky, then release Shift.
- Leave exactly one space between words. Press the space bar with a thumb and return the hand to the home row.
- End the sentence with a period, then start the next sentence after one space.
Here is an example: The keys feel easier now, and my fingers move with more confidence. Practice each part of the sentence until it feels smooth.
Technique tips
- Keep your thumb hovering over the space bar. After you press it, lift the thumb quickly so the hand stays ready.
- When a comma appears, take a very short pause. This helps you keep the rhythm steady and prevents rushed mistakes.
- On long sentences, glance back at what you have typed. Spotting an error early saves time later.
- Do not start the next sentence before you finish the period. Finish the mark, add a space, then type the capital letter.
Lessons
- Lesson 1, learn (10–15 minutes): Watch the demo for sentence structure, spacing and punctuation. Type the sample sentences slowly to build the pattern.
- Lesson 2, practice (10–15 minutes): Type short sentences one after another. Start each one with a capital letter and end it with a period.
- Lesson 3, review (10–15 minutes): Repeat the sentences that gave you the most errors, then finish with the 2-minute test.
This week’s goal
Reach 33 WPM and 95% accuracy. Finishing the lessons earns 1 star. Reaching 95% accuracy earns 2 stars. Reaching 33 WPM as well earns 3 stars. Errors pile up in longer sentences, so check your text as you go. Keeping accuracy high makes the speed feel natural.
This week’s lessons
Do the lessons in order. Each one ends with a test, and your best result is saved.
